Camille Pettit

“How long have you been in the industry?”

I’ve been a stylist & a barber since 2015. I was born and raised in Kelowna but moved to Vancouver to do my training at Blanche Macdonald.   I lived down there for a while but I decided to move back, I love Kelowna.

“Why did you choose to become a stylist/barber?”

Honestly I don’t know if there’s a specific reason. I always wanted to do hair since I was a kid; it always came to me naturally, I was always the one to do friends hair.

“What techniques do you specialize in?”

My favourite thing to do is a soft dimensional balayage where there’s a lot of contrast. I love when a colour is super natural looking, it looks more lived in. I also love modern barbering, like skin fades etc. Think “Peaky Blinders” but 2019… modern retro.

“Describe your personal style.”

I have so many different styles, I pretty much only shop at thrift or consignment stores. Conscious fashion is important to me, I’m not into “fast fashion”. I guess you could say I’m a jeans and a t-shirt kind of girl so pretty casual. I like band tees and motorcycle tees.

“Tell us about your worst personal haircut/hair day.”

I was in Australia living there and I wanted a “lob” (long bob) to about the length of my collar bones. I walked out of the salon and she had pretty much taken clippers to the back making it wedged and short in the back and left it so long (below collar bones) in the front. I had really long hair too, it was traumatizing… that’s actually when I decided to go to hair school, I never wanted that to happen to anyone else. It was like a “I’d like to speak to your manager” hair cut.

“If you could be any Hollywood movie character, who would it be and why?”

Harry Potter, because theres nothing else better, he’s badass and the wizard world is the coolest. Gotta experience that if I could.

“If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and could only take 3 albums with you, what would they be?”

How about 3 bands? The Clash, The Ramones, and Against Me.

“If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and could only take 3 movies with you, what would they be?”

Harry Potter, the box set of all of them. The Lion King, and probably Silence of the Lambs.

“What’s your most embarrassing moment?”

I honestly don’t know… I can’t think of anything specific, maybe I’ve suppressed the memory of it. Ok, I have one that wasn’t exciting but it was pretty embarrassing for me. I was in University in a 200 person lecture and we were talking about taxes in the Yukon, and I asked why we care about what they do with taxes in the USA…. omg so bad.

“We’re not trying to pick you up…but what’s your astrology sign?”

Cancer, I am totally a homebody.

“Do you have any nicknames?”

Cam, Camy, Camel. People always seem to call me Camel…

“What’s one product you simply cannot live without?”

My absolute without a doubt fave product is Root Canal by EVO. It gives you beautiful weightless volume and hold. I use it pretty much on everyone.
