“How long have you been in the industry?”
I’ve been in the beauty industry for 5 years. I took a break from doing hair to pursue other avenues for a while, but I’m happy to be back in the industry as a Plan B hairstylist.
“Why did you choose to become a stylist/barber?”
It’s kind of an odd ball story! I was actually planning to be an interior designer. I was signed up to begin my program, but the day before I changed my mind went into hair instead.
I’ve always been creative, and consider myself an artist in some ways. One of my creative outlets is painting, and feel that being a hairstylist is a great creative outlet with a different medium.
“What techniques do you specialize in?”
It’s hard to pick my favourite or the technique that I specialize in because I actually enjoy doing all of it! There’s nothing I don’t like about it and nothing I can’t handle.
“Describe your personal style.”
Of my friends described me as casually put together, which I agree with. I like mixing different pieces together, or stuff that’s a little out of the ordinary, but not quite punk or anything.
“Tell us about your worst personal haircut/hair day.”
It was the time I decided to be the model for somebody’s first haircut in hair school. It was supposed be a trim, but they took off like 5 inches and gave me choppy short layers. On the plus side, my hair was really healthy because of that drastic haircut, and it opened me up to experimenting.
“If you could be any Hollywood movie character, who would it be and why?”
I’m so bad with this stuff! who’s that little short blonde girl? I can’t think of her name! Kristen Bell!! She’s funny, quirky and has a lot of roles that I wish I could do on the daily. If I could be famous, I’d be Kristen Bell.
“If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and could only take 3 albums with you, what would they be?”
I’d take Moment Apart by Odesza. I love Odesza. Let me think. What else I would bring? Lets’ go with Cloud 9 by Kygo and basically anything by Tropical House.
“If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and could only take 3 movies with you, what would they be?”
Anything with Kristen Bell *laughs* I love all her movies!
“What’s your most embarrassing moment?”
Nothing really stands out. I can’t think of anything specific. Well, it’s not the most embarrassing moments, but when I worked at Cactus club, I mixed up two customers and told a guy that my friend thinks he’s cute because I thought he was someone else.
Then he told me he was there for his engagement party, so that was inappropriate. I felt so bad because I knew this guy, but it was dark and I was busy, so I honestly mistook him for the other guy. It was just one of those moments.
“We’re not trying to pick you up…but what’s your astrology sign?”
I’m a Pieces, but realistically I don’t believe in it. But then again, when I read the descriptions of traits I have to admit it’s pretty accurate.
“Do you have any nicknames?”
My friends call me “Freesh” all the time.
“What’s one product you simply cannot live without?”
I can’t live without Redken One United leave-in conditioner; it’s light weight, and just overall good for your hair. It’s one of those hair products that does exactly what it says!
