5 Quick Hairstyles for Second Day Hair

5 Quick Hairstyles for Second Day Hair

We’ve all been there. Some mornings you wake up late and you know there’s no time to wash your hair. In fact, not washing your hair can actually be better for the long-term health of your hair.  However, we all know that “greasy” feeling second day hair can have. Here at PlanB Headquarters in Kelowna, we’ve compiled a few quick and easy hairstyles to save you time and keep you looking your best with second day hair, or third, or fourth…

Heatless Curls

For these gorgeous heatless curls, you’ll have to plan ahead a bit. Before going to bed, find a headband or scarf to wrap around your head. Make sure it’s soft so it won’t disrupt your sleep.

Starting with your hair in the front, wrap 2-inch sections of hair all the way around the headband. Once all your hair is wrapped around the scarf, go and get your beauty rest.

In the morning, unwrap your hair from the scarf, run your fingers or a wide-tooth comb through your hair and finish it off by running some hair oil through your ends. The result? Beautiful, heatless, seriously easy curls.

Boxer Braids

Boxer braids can be an easy, quick and heatless hairstyle for those days when you just don’t have the time to wash your hair. Just separate your hair into two sections and french braid each side. You can braid your hair down to the bottom, or secure the braid at the nape of your neck with a ponytail and leave the ends of your hair unbraided.

Additionally, you can wear boxer braids one day, sleep with them in and take them out the next day for gorgeous, heatless waves.

Braided Bun

For those morning’s where you’re truly in a rush, try throwing your hair into a slicked back sock-bun. If you have time, try mixing up your sock bun with an upside down french braid. Or, you can skip the sock bun altogether and opt for a messy bun.

If your hair is a bit dirty, spritz some dry shampoo in first. This will give your messy bun a little extra volume and texture.

Side Braid

If your hair is long enough, try throwing all your hair into a simple side braid. If you have hair extensions, you can add them in to make your braid a bit fuller.

Additionally, doing a fish-tail braid (pictured) can make your hair look fuller and may stay in place better throughout the day. Once you’re done, pull at the sides of your braid to make it look fuller and less ‘perfect’. Finish off with a  spritz of hairspray. If you have oily roots to hide, try adding a cute hat to this style.

Head Scarf

Lastly, the headscarf. This hairstyle is quick, easy, cute and perfect for those days when you want to hide oily roots. The best thing about this hairstyle is it’s great for any length of hair.

Find a headscarf you love, then tie it up into a cute bow or knot at the top of your head. If necessary, secure it with bobby pins and a bit of hairspray to ensure it stays in place all day. You can even backcomb a bit of hair at the crown of your head, and then smooth it out for a bit of volume if your scarf doesn’t cover your whole head.

Second day hair can actually make these hairstyles easier. Having a bit of oil and dry shampoo can give your locks the ‘grit’ it needs to stay in place in a hairstyle all day. So, we encourage you to skip washing your hair and try out one of these cute hairstyles next time you’re pressed for time in the morning.
